No intuition or inner voice tells him that it is high time he did something to value himself and his family from the tragic consequences of fascism. This fear of disbelief fur ther transcends to the moment when Eliezer finds himself in the concentration camp at Birkenau neer shall I forget that night, the first night in camp, which has turned my life into one long night, 7 times cursed and seven times sealed (Wiesel 34). Eliezer speaks of his feelings during the first night at the camp, when the brain steady refuses to accept the reality of life. This is when the fear of disbelief suddenly transforms into the fear of the future, the fear of losing life, and the fear of time time, which is indefinite, endless, exclusively imminent.
